The Nit game

A nit is a player who only plays the very best hands. The Nit game makes that a risky habit: everyone gets a chip, and you'd better win a pot before you're the last one holding it.

PREMIUM

How it works

  1. The host starts a Nit game. At the next deal, everyone dealt in gets a Nit chip by their seat.
  2. Win a pot to hand yours in. The host can ask winners to show their cards to count.
  3. The last player still holding a Nit chip pays the forfeit, and that Nit game is over.

The forfeit

The host picks it before the game starts:

  • Chips in the pot: the last player puts a set amount into the next pot, five big blinds unless the host says otherwise.
  • A bomb pot or pot fold on them: the last player covers everyone's ante for a bomb pot or pot fold, dealt to the Nit game's players.

Fair to everyone

  • A player can skip the Nit game from the Seat menu before it starts, and doesn't get a chip.
  • Leaving the table with the last chip, or one of the last two, pays the forfeit on the way out, so nobody can dodge it.
  • Game info shows who still holds a chip, and the chips sit by each player's seat.

Why it's fun

The longer it goes, the more pressure there is. With two chips left, both players start playing hands they'd normally fold, and the whole table gets to watch.
