Tournaments, from one table to sixty
Everyone starts with the same chips, the blinds go up on a clock, and the last player with chips wins. Pick a structure in one tap, or build every level yourself.
Pick a structure
Three ready-made structures cover most nights. Each shows how long it's likely to last for the players entered, and once it's running, when it should finish.
| Structure | Levels | Starting chips | Nine players, about |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turbo | 8 minutes | 5,000 | 1¾ hours |
| Standard | 15 minutes | 10,000 | 3¾ hours |
| Deep | 20 minutes | 20,000 | 5¼ hours |
The Standard structure starts at blinds of 25/50, adds a big blind ante from level 4, and takes a five-minute break every six levels.
Or build your own
The custom setup has everything a real tournament director would want:
- Levels and breaks: every level's blinds and ante, how long each lasts, and when the breaks come.
- Starting chips and the entry, in chips, that goes into the prize pool.
- Rebuys: once a player is out of chips, or whenever they're below the starting stack, as you choose.
- Add-ons at the break, for everyone still in.
- Bounties: a prize in chips on every player's head, for whoever knocks them out.
- Late entry until a level you choose, with your yes for each new player.
- The prize split, from winner takes all to a deep payout.
The setup warns you about anything that would make a strange night, such as blinds more than doubling at once, or too few levels to finish.
One table or six
A tournament can be one table of up to 9, free, or with Premium, up to six tables of 2 to 10 seats, for 60 players. With more than one table, Poker Rooms does the tournament director's work:
- Tables are kept within one player of each other, and the smallest table breaks as players go out.
- On the bubble, tables play hand for hand, so nobody can stall into the prizes.
- Players meet at a final table, drawn at random.
Prizes, in chips
Every prize is paid in chips. The prize pool is exactly what went in: no fee or cut is ever taken and nothing is added. It's a game, and the chips have no value.
Part of the night
Start a tournament from a cash table's Ledger tab and each player's result goes into that table's ledger, so the cash game before and the tournament after settle up together. More on settling up.
